I like to think of these few weeks before Thanksgiving as the calm before the storm. Each year I have the good intention to remain serene in the face of holiday madness but much to my dismay, I have a hard time remaining above the fray. I find myself skipping workouts, thinking way ahead of all the things I need to get done and I forget to enjoy the present moment right in front of me.

Well, this year I have a new plan. I will use this one tip to help my fitness regime survive the crazy end of the year madness and I want to share it with you. Here it is:

Anything is better than nothing at all.

So simple, so concise. And that, my friends, is all we need to remember when feeling overwhelmed amidst the hustle and bustle of the season.

So instead of going for an hour long walk, you might try and squeeze in any length of walk that you can. However, if you are one of those people who suffer from an all or nothing approach to exercise, this approach will not feel right. You are either going to go for that hour long walk or you are not going to do anything gosh darn it! If this thought pattern resonates with you, I have a little secret: there is a grey area to fitness and it’s really not such a bad place to live. Start to live the good life! Grey is where it is at! Let this be your tune to sing throughout the holiday season. Give it a try and you might just enter the New Year with a new tool for consistent workouts.

Just do something. This simple approach will not only help maintain whatever fitness level you have, it will help foster internal peace and comfort throughout the season.

The holidays are just around the corner. Let’s plan ahead and meet them with joy.
