Melissa Wogahn-Joy of Active Living

I have a degree in physical education and began my entrepreneurial journey as a small business owner teaching fitness classes. After completing my master’s degree in exercise physiology from the University of Southern California, I served as a program director for an innovative medical fitness and lifestyle company which integrated medical and fitness services with a staff of doctors, exercise physiologists and registered dietitians.

I later provided health and fitness education services to companies including the American Heart Association, the Los Angeles Times, United Airlines and Good Samaritan Hospital. My clinical experience includes working as an exercise physiologist for an outpatient multidisciplinary pain management center where I prescribed exercise programs for chronic pain patients including those with fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, low back pain and autoimmune disorders.

I am a National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach, a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and I am a credentialed provider for the American College of Sports Medicine’s Exercise is Medicine initiative, a program aimed at connecting physicians with top fitness professionals.

Can I help you?

  • Do you want to become more active but have not been successful in the past?
  • Has your doctor told you to start exercising?
  • Do you want to feel better about yourself?
  • Are you willing to look at physical activity in a whole new way?

If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, I can help you begin a program that meets you where you are with activities that “fit” you.
