1. Healthy employees are productive employees

Find out what you can do to help make sure your employees are healthy by promoting physical activity at your worksite. This guide provides employers interested in creating or expanding their wellness programs with easy and understandable steps on how to increase the physical activity of employees in the workplace.

2. Is there such thing as a healthy vending machine?

Vending machines offer employees mid-morning snacks or that late afternoon pick-me-up. They also fill the role of answering a nagging sweet tooth. The food and beverage options found in vending machines are high in calories, sugar, and fat. The Network for a Healthy California – Worksite Program encourages employers to replace at least some of the current vending machine offerings with healthier options. Encourage employees to choose snacks that are not only good for them, but give them that boost of energy they need to get through the day.

3. Estimate obesity costs based on characteristics of your company

The LEAN Works! Obesity cost calculator can be used to estimate how much obesity is costing your company.

These include costs for medical expenditures and the dollar value of increased absenteeism. Costs are estimated separately for four groups based on Body Mass Index (BMI).

4. A Workplace Obesity Prevention Program

CDC’s LEAN Works! Leading Employees to Activity and Nutrition is a free web-based resource that offers interactive tools and evidence-based resources to design effective worksite obesity prevention and control programs.
